The noise you're hearing indicates that the driver didn't installl properly and/or the wrong driver is being used for it.
The file you downloaded 'lide600fvst
641212ea15.exe' is meant to be used on 64 bit operating systems (which you have). So, copying & pasting the XP's twain driver (which is likely
32 bit) will not make it function properly.
Leave the scanner connected to the computer.
Click Start, goto Computer, right click - then click Manage. Click on Device Mgr and Uninstall the scanner (Imaging devices and camera). Disconnect scanner from computer and reboot.
Let computer boot up and when ready: double click on the downloaded file: 'lide600fvst
641212ea15.exe'
This will install the 64 bit driver automatically.
Once setup is completed, plug-in the scanner. Windows will 'detect' and 'install' new device for use.
When dealing with new hardware: always install your software first; then plug-in the new device (windows doesn't like surprises ... must be prepped first ...)
