Please Help with Graphics card/driver
What I have:
Nvidia Quadros NVS 110M
Windows 7 32 bit operating system
Dell Latitude D620
Graphic driver that I downloaded was from Dell Drivers and Downloads
My troubles began when I was working with Windows Live Movie Maker. My laptop is 4 years old so I guess I was pushing the cpu/gpu too hard because a square of black lines appeared around my cursor then it froze. Had to manually shut down laptop. When it started up I was at 800x600 resolution, I tried changing it to normal (1280x800) in the display options but the highest it could go was 1024x768, the glass effect for aero was gone, I can't put my laptop into sleep or hibernate. I checked my device manager and my graphics card said "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)." I tried to update it but it said I had the latest driver. I decided to uninstall the graphics driver and re-install it.
A black screen came up after restarting, and gave me 2 options: 1) something about doing a repair installation to Windows XP (what my laptop came with) 2) Start Windows normally. I went with the latter but I was met with a blue screen with vertical lines. My laptop restarted and then I pressed F8 and selected "Last known good configuration." Windows 7 started up but it was still at 1024 resolution. By luck I looked up Windows Live Essential requirements and in the graphics section I needed DirectX 9 or higher. I installed that and everything was fixed. I thought everything was ok.
BUT I was working with Movie Maker again (for 2-3 hours) and then it froze and the screen became black. I restarted and I was back at 1024 res without the glass effect, sleep, and hibernate. I tried installing DirectX again but when I checked dxdiag it says that I already have DirectX 11. I tried uninstalling the graphics driver again and did a driver sweep. In my device manager my display adapter says Video Controller (VGA compatible) but when I try to manually update my driver software it says that it is up to date and listed under that is NVIDIA Quadros NVS 110M.
Is there anyway to get my resolution back? Is my card corrupted? There's no vertical lines right now but in the boot up screen there is a small bit near the top. Any help is greatly appreciated.
