HP webcam stopped working after upgrading to Windows 7

I have a HP Pavillion dv6700 laptop with a built-in webcam. I upgraded to windows 7 Home Premiere 32 bit from Vista and my webcam stopped working. The blue light will not even turn on. It says that i have the updated drivers for it but still will not work with Skype. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix the problem?

    Have you r-installed skype?

Does it do the same thing when booted in safe mode (F8)?

is the driver installed and working (in device manager)??

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If your driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

what driver did you install? was it win 7, vista, or??????

    Smaggard Hi and welcome;

You could always try reinstalling the driver in "compatibility mode". If the driver is not windows 7 reinstalling it that way might work. To do that simply right click the drivers installer, go to properties, then compatibility. Chose the operating system the driver was designed for and install.

    Frequently works.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

I have not tried that yet.

Yes it says that it is installed and working properly but will not turn on or anything.

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them? No yellow triangles
Is you driver there , listed, and working?
    Yes

I looked it up and it said win 7.

I went to HP's website and they do NOT have an updated driver for HP Pavilion dv6700 for Windows 7. What driver do i use to reinstall in "compatibility mode" in this case?

I did see this article from HP the other day but was not sure if it pertained to my laptop or not. The weird thing is that my brother has the exact same laptop (HP Pavilion dv6700) and he upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 32bit and his webcam still works fine.

i know my lappy is dv6519tx, but i am guessing its similar enough series laptop. have you tried opening messenger and seeing if it works there? i have no software (except virtualdub) that uses my camera, but i know it works from xp thru vista to win7 with no specific driver downloads required, and i use it to see my children on msn, as often as i can.

This is a easy fix. You graphic card driver is not installed. You need to download the latest drivers for you GPU from the manufacure of the chip and install them.

This is a common issue when installing windows 7.
