Windows 7: Canon i6500 Windows 7 Professional x64

Hi,

I want to install my Canon i6500 printer in Windows 7 Professional 64Bit, but I can't find any drivers in the internet. Has anyone had similar problems with this device?
Canon doesn't provide any fitting drivers...

Sepp welcome to the forums.

If your printer is anything like an old i320 I had it shouldn't need one, as Windows 7 is supposed to have a built in driver for it. If you haven't yet plug the printer in and it should be detected and 7 should install thee driver for it.

The only thing Canon has for it is an add-on module (select Windows 7 from the dropdown),

I never installed it for mine, as I didn't see a need as the control panel for it that Windows installed had just about everything from the old XP control panel.

I've already tried the addon module with no success. The printer gets recognised by windows but it cannot install a driver for it. Perhaps I'll try the online driver search provided integrated in windows 7. But unfortunately the customers pc doesn't have any internet access yet... Is there a chance to solve my problem with a virtual machine emulating a xp pc like the XP mode coming with windows 7?
