I would give these drivers I use a try & see if they install.
I to have the Sigmatel HD audio chip on my board.
As far as I know the codec drivers shouldn't change regardless of the board the audio chip is on as it's audio drivers only & not chipset.
Let me know if they work or not as I've pointed a number of people to this without any reply back one way or they other.

Same issue. RC110G. This was enough of a pain with Vista, but now Windows 7 is driving me nuts. I love how I can get Windows 7 running flawlessly on my MacBook Pro but not my Sony. Any news?

Guess we just have to wait. I tossed an old pci sound card from junk machine I had laying around. Instantly detected. All-in-all a minor annoyance that can't tarnish my love for this beautiful OS! I suggest you ask around and find a buddy with a junky sound card they aren't using. Worst case you have to spend like $10...

i've had this issue and my workaround is to go to use the older drivers. I've had to choose not to install the sound drivers update through WU almost everytime i put a new build on. Not sure if it'll work for you...

I uninstalled my RC. I really wanted a change in OS as I've been using XP since birth and just wanted something new. Never really used Vista, just tried Ubuntu the other day and maybe I need to put some time into it, but I'm rather impatience with a new OS than windows.

I'm going try another install and try some of the other suggestions mentioned here

    Vista 7 32-bit

I had the same problem with my VAIO VGX-XL2 - no sound available. I had Windows 7 64-bit installed.

After trying unsuccessfully to download the sigmatel driver from SonyStyle.com and force the computer to recognize it, I wiped my drive and reinstalled Windows 7 but with the 32-bit version instead.

Once I was running the 32 bit Windows 7 OS, I was able to install the SigmaTel Vista drivers with no problem.

    Hope that helps

    sigmatel hd driver windows 7

I have had a similar problem when i upgraded from vistato windows seven. I myself has a sigmatel hd chip on my mother board. Windows would play sound but would not perform or display 5.1 surround. As my computer is an e-machines the drivers are not supported any more. i did find a link from an emachines customer services advisor where drivers could still be found. The sigmatel hd driver listed is vista compatable and reinstalled the sigmatel audio driver and program no probs on windows seven. The program will save in any directory you point it to, just run the program and it will unzip to your cab file on you c drive. run the setup.exe program and it will install form there. select appropriate jack outputs and finsh program. right click on your speaker icon in the lower task bar and select playback devices. selct audio device and then click on configure. select 5.1 surround and apply. If you require centre speaker to work correctly with media centre enter speaker properties and select virtual surround sound and apply. Hope this help you. find link to emachines e4220 drivers page and select sigmatel hd audio driver. Its worth a try!!!

I have the same problem with my VGC-RC110G. I have computer sound but none when I use media player or any other device. Found this on Sony's website.

    VGCRC110G

    What exactly does this mean?
    • This means that Sony does not provide drivers or support for Windows® 7 for this model.
