    Canon LBP5000 64-bit drivers

Anyone knows what Canon is gonna do about the fact they don't have 64-bit drivers for this printer? Anyone some information on this?

I know there are no Vista (64-bit) drivers either. This is the only piece of hardware which is not functional with Windows 7 RC (64-bit).

This is a great printer, so I will stick to XP if no solution is given by Canon. But maybe someone has some official info from Canon regarding this issue :).

    I can only hope ...

I searched the Cannon site and your right they only offer a Vista 32 bit driver. My question is have you tried to download this driver to your desktop and find the setup. exe file, then right click it then properties. Then check the run in comapatability mode> Vista. Then try and install it? This is the only option you have avalible, short of running VM. Fabe LBP5000

FINALLY got a reply from Canon.....(email from 19/10/09... 3 days from Windows 7 full commercial release)......

    Thank you for your enquiry.

As Windows 7 is not yet in full commercial release, Canon Australia is currently unable to provide full support for users of this operating system. Information provided by Microsoft indicates that products that are compatible with Windows Vista (64-bit) are likely to also work under the current Windows 7 Release Candidate using the same drivers, however Canon Australia is unable to confirm this at this time.

As the LBP5200 is not compatible with any current 64-bit Windows operating system, it is unlikely that it will be compatible with the 64-bit version of Windows 7.

.....thanks Canon - in other words - stiff cookies, buy another printer!
*LOOK - SHINY - a NEW Canon* - yeah! right!
So long Canon and thanks for all the fish!

Using XP Mode to print works. But is not a really nice solution. Canon released a list of hardware that will be supported by Windows 7 and this printer is not part of it.

So is there a list of printers that Windows have certified as having 64-bit drivers?

Lets hope for the best then and hopefully this is for real. Currently I'm printing using XP mode in Windows 7 64-bit but I want to get a real solution allowing me to print from any PC in the house over the printer router.

What language is that annyway? Or is that a name? :).

    We just have to wait

    Droiz:

I phoned Canon’s Customer Service this morning for your information and the female correspondent replied: ’TUKURU YOTEI DE ORIMASUGA, MADA GUTAITEKI HIZUKE MADEWA KIMATTE ORIMASEN. (I assure you the driver for 64-bit LBP 5000 driver will be built but I the date of release is not yet confirmed) They are working on it. Canon has already released many 64-bit driver versions of its various hardwares and I am wondering what idiosyncrasies of LBP 5000 system are impeding a swift solution. I am using the portable inkjet printer Canon PIXUS 50i in the meantime, but only for small notes and not large-scaled documents. I guess we have to wait till the swallow-nesting heralds the advent of spring. thanks
