    Which Driver?

Gateway P 7801 U FX, NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS chip on the motherboard.

I recently upgraded from Vista Home Premium 64Bit to Windows 7 Professional 64Bit, and want to update the video drivers. My choices are to use windows update and install the Nvidia driver which doesn't display any driver data i.e. version, with a release date of 07/ 09 and a publish date of 10/17/09.

OR install one or both of these drivers below from Gateway.

    1. VGA_Nvidia_ N10PGE1_ V8.15.11 8652_7a.zip Date 11/4/09
    2. VGA_Nvidia_GeForce_9800M GTS v.8.15.11.8632.zip-Nvidia Geforce 9800M GTS Video Driver Version 8.15.11.8632 11/09.
Both those drivers are listed separately on the Gateway site.
I just don't know which one to use of the three???

    Regards, BD

To further confuse me, I found this driver at the NVIDIA website 258.96 WHQL. So now it appears i have four drivers to choose from.. Regards, BD

Welcome to Seven Forums As a rule it's always best to go to the manufacuters web site for your drivers.
As with many OEM systems sometimes the Manufacturers modify the driver to suit their systems.
If Gateway daoesn't have a video driver that will work, then I would suggest going to Nvidia and using a Nvidia modder program to modify the .inf. But as I read your system specs it would appear you hve Vista already installled so why not try using that driver in compatibility mode,?As it is a 64bit driver. Compatibility Mode Or the NVIDIA MobilityModder These would be my suggestions. Fabe
