Dell Opti GX620 Bios Flash utility under Win7 Ultimate? Friends I'm pretty sure I have used Dell's flash util under Windows 7 previously with no issues. But today I'm trying to run their BIOS update A11 for an Optiplex GX620 and it fails under my normal [admin priv.] account, under the Administrator account, under the Administrator account "Run As Administrator". It will load, give the "ok to proceed" but when it tries to config to run at Boot time, it fails.
This system has Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit
Anyone have a cure for this disease?

One of two ways,
1. If you have a floppy drive, Drivers and Downloads
and follow the instructions under "Run the BIOS update utility from DOS environment (Non-Windows users)".
2. If the above isn't available (no floppy drive) and if you have a spare hard drive (or even a second drive with a small partition will do in a pinch), install XP on it (don't need to worry about updates or anything, only going to need it long enough to run the bios update) and then run the bios update from there. If you do decide to go this route make sure to disconnect the drive with Windows 7 on it (and any other drives) so you don't mess up the 7 install, and end up with a broken bootloader. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. Can you try making a bootable USB drive and use the HP method of installing your new bios?
I'm not familuar with the Dell Flashing system.
As in post #10 here Help With BIOS.
Just a thought. got it got it done.
i downloaded the Win/DOS version [they hid it from me...] and made a bootable USB.
that got the bios, but this is one sick system, hardware wise. I worked at dell in past life... can't believe how shoddy the design of this smallest GX620 is. yikes. wonder how many thousand of these went to the boneyards? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP DC7600, HP DC7600[2], HP DC7100, Samsung NC10 OS Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, Windows XP Home SP3 CPU Pentium 4 3.2GHz, Pentium 4 3.4GHz 64bit, Atom, Motherboard Dunno Memory 4GB matched, 1GB, 2.5GB, 4.0 GB Graphics Card Geforce 8400 GS and others Sound Card RealteK ALC260 and others Monitor(s) Displays Asus HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Cooling We Be Cool Hard Drives WD Caviar 640gb SATA |

I've been able to update several Dell systems, including an older GX520 in Windows 7 using the Run As Admin option. It reboots, updates the BIOS, and then comes back into Windows. I've seen it fail to rerun after the reboot, but who cares at that point...the BIOS is already upgraded. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-2600 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3 Memory 12 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3-1333 Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 470 Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA PSU OCZ ModStream 700W Case CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Agility3 240 GB, WD5001AALS, WD7501AALS Dell Opti GX620 Bios Flash utility under Win7 Ultimate? problems?
