I usually let Windows grab them from the MS website during the install. That means being connected to the internet. As long as the drivers are available from MS, no problem.

What drivers is it asking for, specifically?

Do you have the driver disk that came with the PC? If so, put it in the drive and the installer should search for them there.

My guess is it's looking for the SATA drivers for the hard drive interface. It can't install without them.

Welcome to Seven Forums: The first thing you should have done is run the Windows upgrade adviser. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows After going to your HP site your system wasn't supported after XP so Trying to install a 64bit Operating system on this computer is going to be next to impossible.
Problem is their aren't any 64bit drivers for your system, the chipset drivers were last updated in 2005 for XP I just don't see this system being able to run win 7 64bit, Possibly 32bit using compatibility mode to install the XP drivers Compatibility Mode But even then it's a long shot. The last time I recieved that message of no drivers found and can't install on this drive " last week", I just needed to rezero the drive using the diskpart commands. Follow the tutorial below to rezero your drive and see if Windows 7 will install after that.

HP does show that your Compaq SR1560AN has drivers for Vista 64 bit which means there is a good chance it will work with Windows 7 64, although finding the correct drivers might be more of a challenge.

Usually the Vista drivers will work but other times you need to track down a better one or install the Vista drivers using compatablity mode. Most of the time Windows 7 will automatically install working drivers but they might not be the best possible drivers for your system.

Under Operating System Vista / Vista 64 bit it only shows Lightscribe System Software update. Unless I'm mising something which wouldn't be the first time. Fabe Software & Driver Downloads Compaq Presario SR1560AN Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (Peru - English)

Like I mentioned before, finding drivers might be a challenge but the processor is 64 bit so will work with a 64 bit Op system. 2.0GHz AMD Athlon 64 3200+

In my experience Windows 7 is very good at finding the right drivers for 64 bit systems so it's probably worth a try.

Those 32 bit XP drivers most likely wouldn't be worth using anyway so why not go with 64 bit and let Windows 7 find the right ones. I have had good luck with this on my older machines.

The error message would be different if he was trying to install a 64 bit OP system on a machine with a 32 bit processor. The error message as it stands indicates that the drive needs to be rezeroed for what ever reason. I had this same problem come up just last week and rezeroing worked for me so figured it might be worth a try. :)

Worth a shot anyway, no guarantee on anything here, but I've been messing with the same old compaq's and it's been working pretty well. I also like 64 bit systems so much better than 32, especially because of the 4GB memory which makes them seem faster.
