    Dell audio driver

I am trying to figure out how out how to get sound on my laptop. The sound thing on the taskbar says No audio output device installed. I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop running Windows 7. Anyone know of a solution to this problem?

    Thanks

Hope this is more an experiment in getting Windows 7 to run on it, than an attempt to make it a viable OS on that laptop. In technology terms that laptop is a dinosaur; I found a review on it from October 2001 and can find references to drivers even older (Win 95/98 era).

All things considering if you really want to attempt to run Windows 7 on it and have sound, get either an external sound card or USB speakers (assuming the USB ports are up to it and available).

You can always use the Vista driver for that model. Check for the vista sound support.

Unfortunately there are not now and never will be Vista or Windows 7 drivers for that laptop,

    Drivers & Downloads

Even Dell stopped providing driver updates almost 6 years ago.
