ATI 9250 AGP card under 64 bit

    Hi all
Hope you can help, I have searched all over these forums and can't find an answer so thought I would try for myself ;-)
I have a cheap ati 9250 agp card, and cant find any drivers that will make it work under 64 bit windows 7.
Have tried the beta drivers from ATI, have tried the 64 bit xp and vista ones, but still no luck.
Every time it gives an error message saying that this is not an x64 driver.
    Any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance

You could try the agp hotfix driver, Vista x64. You may need to to install the driver using the device manager if it doesn't install correctly when running the .exe.

Thanks for the advice and it was something that I had not tried, but this still did not work.

But I did not know which driver to load from as it gives a list of models and none of them match my 9250? Is there one of them that anyone knows might match?

    Thanks

Hate to say it but there is not, and will not ever be Windows 7 support for that card. Reason being,

    Windows 7 - Official system requirements | Hardware 2.0 | ZDNet.com

    • 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
    • 1 GB of RAM (32-bit)/2 GB of RAM (64-bit)
    • 16 GB of available disk space (32-bit)/20 GB (64-bit)
    • DirectX 9 graphics device with Windows Display Driver Model 1.0 or higher driver
and your card only supports DirectX 8.1,

    Radeon™ 9200 Series

    • Full support for DirectX ® 8.1 programmable pixel and vertex shaders in hardware
    • 1.4 pixel shaders support up to 22 instructions and up to 6 textures per rendering pass
    • 1.1 vertex shaders support vertex programs up to 128 instructions
    • Complete feature set also supported in OpenGL ® via extensions
    • Programmable shaders provide enhanced 3D effects in over 100 existing and upcoming
    Basically your options are,

    - live with the card and whatever driver Windwos 7 installs for it

    - get a card that meets the minimum requirements for Windows 7

    - give up on Windows 7 until you have a computer that meets the requirements in all ways.
