Welcome to Seven Forums xmetl. The software came on a CD you received with the PC. If you have the CD's, look for the one named "APPLICATION Already Installed on Your Computer" at the top, and "For Reinstalling Dell Webcam Central Software" at the bottom.

If you don't have the CD's, this should be that software (I confirmed d/l is clean and safe).

I also had to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop and I am not missing this software. It is not on my discs under applications. My webcam shows up in the device manager, it says the drivers are up to date, etc. I tried to download it from My Dell Downloads, but my computer will not register. This is very frustrating! I just want my webcam software

How did you reinstall Windows 7 - Was it from the DELL restore partition or from an OEM/Retail disc?

I'm wondering whether the Software is looking for some kind of registry entry to confirm it's a DELL install??

    Inspiron camera software for laptop

I read all time posts of people wanting needing software to run their webcam.. and all you get is driver webcam issues etc.. I don't know why no one can read. driver is not software. the driver easy to get it the software to recognize it is the issue.. hellooo... well I had same problem there's a free webcam program called jester ad it works good. you can't adjust lighting or things but it does record and take pictures and offers some funny apps. and is 100 percent free. so it called "webcam jester " and that good enough and the people that can't read or know the difference of firmware and software need stop posting and answering

Neither the OP nor the other members who replied are likely still following it.

But, yes, you are right to distinguish between "software", "firmware" and "drivers".:)

    Enjoy your stay.
