Canon iPF710 not compatable with W7!!

Hi
Can anyone help?
I am trying to get my Canon iPF710 printer to work on windows 7. When I first put the usb in Windows 7 tried to find the drivers but couldn't. So I tried to load the software but it said it is not compatable with Windows 7!

Is there anyway I can get this to work? I tried looking on Canon website but it says the printer is compatable with 2003, XP or Vista. Does not mention Windows 7.

Would really appreciate some help as I need to do some printing.
Thanks

Hi tlcs,

Have you tried installing the software in compatability mode for XP or Vista? This will force Windows to (almost) emulate the environment needed to install the software/drivers.

Right click the main setup file and select properties then in the 'Compatability' tab select the options suitable for the age of the drivers

Hope it helps

Hi there
I think you'll have to run this stuff either in a Virtual Machine or possibly on a 32 bit version of Windows 7.

A Virtual XP machine should work with no problems -- just share the directory where your data is stored with your Windows 7 host machine and print just like you do from Windows 7.

I don't think there are any Windows 7 x-64 drivers for this printer. You *might* be lucky in getting VISTA or XP drivers to work on Windows 7 but only if you are running Windows 7 x-86 and not Windows 7 x-64.

Cheers

As per MS, your printer is compatible with Windows 7. See this page, it has download links too.

Hi there
I think you'll need ALL the software there (ICC profile, driver, etc etc).

It's a GREAT printer but I think you might only find this works on Windows 7 X86 and not X64. Canon is usually VERY SLOW at releasing 64 bit drivers.

You CAN'T install 32 bit drivers on a Windows 7 X64 bit system. However try the download and see oif it works.

Cheers

Hi tlcs, nice printer.

The actual printer "driver" is iPF710-Drv-Win-416.exe. dated 11/10/2009.

However as jimbo suggested you should install all the other "drivers" as well.

BTW What version of Windows 7 do you have - 32 or 64-bit? I don't see where you mention this.

Edit: If you have Windows 7 x64, than this is your driver for the printer - iPF710-Drv-Win64-416.exe.
