    VAIO clean install

    Hi
    I have Sony VAIO VGN-NR38S.

I am trying to do a clean instal of Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have downloaded what I believe are the correct drivers and software from the American support site.

The correct order for installation seems to vary depending on who you contact, but appears to be very important.

When I instal them in what I think is the correct order I get a system in which some facilities do not work.

The Smart network is okay. The Control Center seems not to load correctly and only displays the Smart Network and a launcher setup window that is all in Japanese.

I have tried reinstalling in compatability mode for Vista service pack 3 but the result are the same.

Could somebody tell me what is the correct installation order and what drivers and software is required for Window 7?

Any replies will be much appreciated.

    franka,
You might want to consider making sony recovery disks.

I have no idea how to do that with a Vaio.

After you make those, then you will at least be able to get back to the original state of the machine if all goes wrong.

Check to make sure that your computer is capable of running Win 7.

First you want to download and run the Upgrade Advisor.

Here is a link with video on what you want to do, namely upgrade from XP to Win 7:Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 - Help & How-to - Microsoft Windows

Another approach which I've used on a Vaio, but not with Win 7, is given here:
SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

After following this approach, then you can go the Sony site and get any driver updates specific to your computer. I definitely would not install the Sony bloatware.
