    Dell 2407 Drivers/resolution issue

Hey guys, recently i bought a dell 2407 used, this thing is messed up it doesnt always turn on. i don't know whats wrong with it. I did figure out a trick though, if i plug in my 2005fwp boot my computer, then unplug the dvi and hook in the 2407wfp Dvi, it will turn on! So i found 2407wfp vista drivers and force install. But it only picks up 1920x1080(should be x1200), i tried the Nvidia panel for customize resolution, but it keeps popping up an error messaging saving the monitor does not support that resolution.

So i guess what im trying to ask is this a hardware issue or software? or is it both??!? And is there another way to install some generic monitor driver that will support 1920x1200@60hertz.

    thanks.

Sounds like a hardware problem but you can ttry a program called power strip to to try and set the resolution you want PowerStrip - Download
You will ned to installl it in compatibility mode XP for your 32 bit windows seven Compatibility Mode
You really need to first find out the soecs on the monitir your trying to use and ewhy it won't startup onit's own. this tells me something is seriously wrong with something.

In your manual http://dlcdnas.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...19_a8r-mvp.pdf it says it only supports 1920x1200 While using X850 Crossfire Editon @65 hertz

You should also try updating your bios to the latest and under "other" are your chipset drivers you may want to install them as well, their all for windows XP http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us
with the Radeon X200 chipset and no support since XP I think your going to find it difficult to get windows Seven running smoothly. JMO. Fabe

    thanks for the reply

I guess i ruled out mobo, chipset and bios issues, because i use to have a 3007wfp (2650x1600) resolution, and it was plug and play never had an issue with it. I also tried running this on my old powerbook (ati 9700 Radeon M 2560x1600max) and it wouldnt pick up the monitor at all.

    I updated the Bios,

I dont see "only supports 1920x1200 While using X850 Crossfire Editon @65 hertz" so does that mean it wil only support that resolution if i am using the x850 Graphics card.

    thanks.
