iPod Shuffle wont get recgonized by Windows

I was charging my mums ipod shuffle and adding new songs.... everything was fine, everything work. I accidentally bumped her ipod and it fell off the desk, however everything stay in place, the ipod dident fall out and it did not come out of USB spot. After i knocked it, Windows said Installing Device driver software... Then it said it failed.

I've tryed everything, restoring ipod, everything apple offers on there website, uninstall driver and re connected. Uninstalled itunes 10.1

Its an ipod Shuffe 2nd Generation 1GB
    iTunes 10.1
    Songs still play
Still charges if you use wall charger
When i connected to PC i get 1 amber light flash

The only thing i can think of that is left to do is to re image my PC but i dont really want to because it takes to long, plus its sort of an old image

    everything worked until bumped it

    Hi,

With the iPod plugged in, open 'Device Manager' and see if there are any yellow exclaimation marks next to any drivers. If so, you need to right-click and select 'Uninstall' and check the 'delete driver software' box too. This will completely uninstall the device driver allowing re-installation of a new driver.

    Hope this helps :)

well i did look, and yes there is... I've delete it about 10! and it tryed to restore. The exclamation mark is not universally on the driver, but on what USB port it is plug in. It's not the port because my own ipod Touch will connect to it.

I forgot to mention above i also did a system restore to when it did work, but it did not work... thats why i dont want to use my image in case i re image and it wont work

Are there any settings screens on the iPod that would relate to PC connectivity? They may yeild some info about resetting the PC connection without losing any data

I'm only 14 and did not entirely get what you said.

Well my ipod has no screen because its a shuffle

and 2, Its over 2 years old so i have no idea were the box is...

But i was looking at my ipod touch box which is also 2 years old the stuff that is included in the box is mostly the same as website, and i've tried everything that the apple website has said.

I would read into the 'Troubleshooting' section of the User Manual and see if there's anything there that can help :)

    Grrr Nothing is working....

Looks like my mum will be listening to the same songs over and over, and will be charging via the USB adapter :l
Tomorrow i will try and re image my PC and see what happens... I have a strong feeling that it wont work if i do that either

well I've tried the 2 front USB ports and all 6 back USB ports and it doesn't work... I cant try another cable because the shuffle cables is completely different to the rest of the ipod range so i only have 1 cable
