Scanner not compatible with Windows 7. Can anyone help?

My scanner, which admittedly is a bit old (6 or 7 years) is not compatible with Windows seven (64-bit). The scanner still works great and I'd hate to just dump it because it doesn't work on my new computer.

The scanner is a Visioneer One Touch 7100 USB Scanner. I already tried the manufacturers website, no luck. They simply tell me that the scanner is not compatible with Windows seven.

I tried plugging the scanner in while I was on the internet and letting the computer search for drivers, ...... no luck there either.

Can anyone help? Or should I just give up on this? I don't want to damage this computer. The only thing I really used it for was scanning documents.

Hi! petempls, welcome to W7F :)

    You can try this:
    social.technet.microsoft Visioneer OneTouch 7100 Drivers

Read it all, but pay particular interest to Pendragonf's post down near the bottom:

"...I have got the following scanner to work with Windows 7 64 bit should be the same for 32bit as well..."
    "...Visioneer 7100, 8920, 9020, 9420..."

You are pretty much out of luck. First it is at least 12 years old. Second One touch stopped supporting it in XP sp1.

Your one and only hope is to get a win XP SP1 driver and install it in compatibility mode. CHANCES ARE IT WONT WORK, BUT.....

To install in compatibility mode right click the installer>properties>compatibility>XP sp1.

    Good luck mate.

I reckon your best bet would be to take a look at this site and see if your scanner is listed amongst the supported scanners.

free fix that worked for me

Load - 9420 driver from Visioneer
Load - 7100 driver from Visioneer
Load - Not another PDF scanner 2 free ware
Your 7100 will now work as a WIA scanner
You may need to temporarily disable antivirus program when you download the 7100 driver
    :)
