    Driver Question

Hey, I have an Nvidia GTS 250 Card

Windows 7 has already installed a driver from windows update, but I want to install the driver from the Nvidia site itself

If I remove and delete the driver, Windows just installs it again

Another question, will Windows ever install drivers automatically, or will they always come up under the Optional section in Windows update?

    Thanks

    Remove the win-nvidia driver.
    Install the nvidia site driver.
The next time it shows up in updates, hide it, and forget about it.

It depends on how you have updates set.
At; Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update\Change settings. I have mine set to to download, but I pick, and choose what an when.

All my drivers have come up under optional.

Are you worried because nvidia says to only use drivers specifically built for your machine?

I recently had an update to my intel graphics that gateway said had to come from them, but I allowed MS to do it, and I'm purring along.
    knock on wood.....
