    QMS Printer Drivers Expanded!

As a hopeless geek and ThinkPad addict who gave up on the "bleeding edge" sometime ago, our household has mostly stuck with Windows XP . . . up until now.

I figured since the one Vista machine in flock is actually quite stable now, that Windows 7 might be worth a try on a hot new ThinkPad T510 with Intel® Core™ i7-620M Processor (4M Cache, 2.67 GHz) that I found on eBay. The display is a gorgeous 1600x900, but I digress.

We have an ancient 11x17 capable 25 PPM QMS 2560 which seems to like the "MINOLTA-QMS 2060 Print System (PS)" and "MINOLTA-QMS PagePro 4100 (PCL)" drivers. Imagine my surprise not finding them supplied with the Windows 7 Pro provided by Lenovo. Imagine the big smile when Windows Update found them on the Web!

My wife's Konica Minolta Magicolor 2450 is a similar story with an MC2550 driver retrieved by the same several minute long Windows Update search. Love that button in the printer setup dialog box!

So far, the laptop itself has been well behaved except for an occasional inexplicable power down of the optical drive. I can live with that.

    Life is good!

It's nice to know that there are drivers still being written for older hardware. Thanks for informing us of this :)

My pleasure! You and the other dedicated members of this forum are a great source of wisdom and encouragement, without which I would not have embraced Windows 7. Here's hoping I can return the favor, at least in small ways. :)
