X1950 working driver

I don’t know if this will be of help to anyone, or if this has been posted already, I couldn’t find it here on this forum.

ATI Catalyst 9.1 Vista driver 32 or 64bit should work with an X1950, the 64bit worked for me and I have seen on another site that the 32bit is working also.

No link but google it you will find the driver on the web.

Edit:

Since making this post others have pointed out that the 9.2 and 9.3 drivers should also work in Win 7, follow this thread for links to the drivers.

It should also be pointed out that this thread was for the X1950 PCIE cards and not AGP

The version isn't governed by the OS, it's governed by the model card/chip. AMD/ATI dropped support for all but the newer "HD" cards from Catalyst versions newer than v9.3. So, the new ones written for Windows 7 simply won't work.

I've heard that v9.2 still works, but haven't heard anything about v9.3.

Yep i heard that too that there is no more support for older cards only HD 2xxx++ ... that is why i search for some drivers that can work and 9.1 is working fine. Maybe ill try just 9.2 and 9.3 to see if they work...

I'm running this card on the Asus P4C800-E mobo (socket 478). It didn't work for me. It's an agp card. Will that matter?

The problem with the x1950 agp card is the pci to agp bridge chip, Im guessing that x1950 agp owners will need to find a Vista driver that supports the agp version of this card for Win 7.

As for ATI not supporting the X cards any more, I blame AMD, ATI had just about got their driver support right then AMD came alone and put an unwanted spanner in the works.

Just finished playing Assassins creed at maximum quality on my X1950 on an overclocked Quad Core Duo, the card handled it ok, it is still a good card.

AMD look after your customers please.

I had zero problems when I tested my system with the X1950GT PCIe card and it used the included Microsoft drivers... but I have heard and seen plenty of problems with the recent ATI cards that use the AGP due specifically to that PCI-to-AGP bridge chip that is required.
I do know that some companies offer their own custom drivers. Something like Visiontek:
