    Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family

    Hi all

I have the above NIC in my Windows 7 (7100) setup.
It is running fine, But, If I go to windows update, there is a driver update for it.
If I install it, the NIC refuses to work.
Anyone have any info as to why this could be?, I did a search on here but could find no info.
    Cheers for any help.

You can try this and see if it helps
do the windows update and let it update the driver
once your done updating go into device manager and delete the NIC card.
Once you have removed the NIC reboot the machine it maybe confused on what driver to use on reboot it should load the newest driver and work.

Well, This is strange, It seems to have installed this time but I did not do anything.
I will see if the update reappears the next time I reboot.
Thanks for the info, I will put it to the test in the morning, Or not depending what happens.
    Cheers.

Scrap that, The update reapperared, I tried the suggestion above but it rebooted with drivers that did not work and I could not do a driver roll back.
Luckily the drivers on my mobo disc are working ok.
Think I will stick with them for now as all is ok.
    Cheers.

I updated to release 7201 today, It installed the latest drivers that would normally appear on Windows update.
I had no networking at all, Luckilly I still had drivers that I could install and get the network working again.
Is there any way I can inform Microsoft that the drivers they insist on trying to load on my machine are broken and going by the date they give, Far, far out of date?.
    Cheers.
