Thanks, artnada, for your proposal. Now my webcam works under Windows 7. Using Lifecam v2.9 was a good idea. But in addition I had to download MS Live Messenger (which I wanted to avoid) and I had to change my Skype to version 4.0 beta. That meant downloading and installing altogether more than 200 MB software, not speaking of the time spent before with looking for a solution.
Microsoft promised not long ago, that Windows 7 will not demand newer than Vista drivers for your devices. Now a simple webcam (sold under their brand) shows that this is not true. I have a bad feeling about the future of my other devices.
But you need to remember Windows 7 is a BETA. Simple as that.

It may be released in July/Aug 2009 and those bits of software you have seen [and downloaded] on that Windows beta page will no doubt be "ready" when Win7 is RTM.

So will not speaking of the time spent with looking for a solution when it is RTM and on the shelves.

I am suprised because I use the VX-1000 too and my cam is recognised by Lifecam - after all Lifecam is the software specifally for the VX- range. [also the new Messenger 2009].

Are you using the Lifecam v2.9 beta?

(I Don't use Skype so not sure there.)

Forget it, it works now. For some reason Windows 7 selected my external HD for the default location of install, I just unplugged the external and it worked fine after a reboot. Thanks

I can't get the VX 3000 to work, keep getting "initialization error". It worked flawlessly in Vista. I've installed the 2.9 beta and checked that I have the latest drivers. Anybody have any ideas?

Ok guys not sure if this is any help to anyone, but I had similar problems from BSOD to just general pain in the kneck problems trying to get vx-1000 to work.
I found the only way to get it working correctly was to make sure I had version 2.04 installed. That version works perfectly on anything from Live messenger v7 through v9 beta to Camfrog pro.
All other versions of this software gave me problems. If you can't find and I am allowed to upload I will post it here if needed.

    Hope that helps someone.

I've tried 2.9 and it doesn't work for me. How can I get ahold of 2.04?

No luck with 2.04. Drivers don't work. 2.9 installed fine but I just get the initialization error when starting the camera.
