    Asus P5Q Deluxe Motherboard BIOS

    Greetings,

I'm looking for a BIOs update for the P5Q Deluxe Motherboard. I've gone to their site to get some updates, but it's rather confusing to someone like me who isn't very tech with this - considering I've never updated BIOs myself before.
I hope someone can help me out! I'm running on W7 Home Premium 64-bit.

All I've managed to find are these: Asus P5Q Deluxe Motherboard BIOS Update 2301 Download
But they're quite old, so I'm not sure if these are the most recent?

    Thanks in advance

I would check the asus website... And honestly unless if you hare having direct issues related to the motherboard I do not suggest updating your bios since you are not very tech savy...

I did a search and 2301 indeed is the latest bios for your mobo. It fixes some fan issues, so should be worth upgrading, if you havent already.

And what do you mean old? Bios updates are not released every week.

    Alright, thanks.

And well, February is rather old, I'd expect them to be updated at least every third month or so!

Lol...thats the funniest thing I heard in a while. Bios updates are released to address specific mobo issues, they are not as frequent as say windows updates because they are not open to security threats. Also, bios updates may fix certain issues related to hardware but they are not exactly a performance tweak, so its not that your computer will start running faster or the colours will become more vibrant etc.

FYI, Asus actually released EFI for P5Q deluxe. This baby is a different type of bios, although there seem to be some issues. Read here.

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- EFI BIOS

Do not see this as a recommendation- I have no experience with EFIs so cannot advise. But its interesting nevertheless.

And also, once a board is replaced by a new socket or just plain dropped from support, again, the BIOS updates will stop even if the board is still available from particular online retailers or shop retailers.
By that point, the manufacturer just does not see any point in using resources to make a BIOS update for something that's old or they deem as not needing an update.
