How/where to check whether hardware is compatible with 64-bit windows?

How/where can I run a diagnostics test to check whether a particular hardware is compatible with 64-bit windows?

How/where can test to check whether it driver is compatible with 64-bit windows as well?

Edit: It's called Upgrade Advisor.... Will it work if I'm already on Windows 7? I don't have Vista or XP.

The inclination is actually more towards external hardware, like card readers, external hard drives, etc, rather than internal hardware like the motherboard, cpu, ram, etc.

Will Windows 7 upgrade advisor be applicable for external hardware devices?

The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor will scan all elements of your system for compatability with both x86 & x64 versions of Windows 7.
