Trouble installing ATI drivers

Hi everyone,

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and I'm having trouble installing ATI video drivers. I currently have version 9.9 installed and figured it was time to go to a newer version. I tried installing 10.9, 10.10 and even the latest 10.11 (of course 64bit version). I even tried uninstalling the 9.9 version by running the 9.9 setup and no matter which version I try I get the Program Compatibility Assistant popping up, basically saying that the program isn't running correctly. I trying running the setup while logged in as administrator, but that produced the same results. How can I install a newer version of the drivers?

Thanks!

i'm not sure what the underlying problem is, but if you're mainly concerned about getting the darn thing installed, can you do it in vista compat mode?

it should work ok.

also have you tried the individual driver download package, or the whole catalyst software suite?

Download new version and save it to desktop or file somewhere. Then uninstall the ATI Catalyst Install manager from control panel, uninstall programs, then it should reboot if not reboot. Once system is restarted and running then go to where ever you saved new updated driver (this will include the Catalyst control panel) and install. The key to installing a new or updated driver is to remove old one first.

sorry, have to disagree on that one, bassfisher.

it should work ok if installed over the top of the old driver. that wouldn't be causing the compatibility problem.

I'm trying to install the whole Catalyst Control Panel.

I haven't tried Vista compatibility mode, but I downloaded the Vista/Windows 7 version so I'm not sure if I need to do that.

you shouldn't need to use vista mode, but if 7 mode isn't working...what you got to lose?

I can't uninstall them even from Control Panel. I only have the option to Change or Repair.
