Leadtek Winfast DTV2000H, works in 7100 but not 7201

Hi folks. Great forum! Been reading for a while; first post now.

Just upgraded from 7100 to 7201 (x64) and was informed by setup that my Leadtek Winfast DTV2000H TV tuner driver was not compatible. So I moved cxavsvid.sys (CX2388x X64 v5.0.18.6420) to allow setup to proceed. The upgrade process ran smoothly, albeit taking several hours!

On first start up, Windows Update downloaded drivers for the DTV2000H (the same as previously installed it seems) but device manager now states..

"The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)"

I've tried every driver I could find on the net, but nothing gets the card going again. It ran really well in 7100 so this was most unexpected.

Has anyone had success in getting around this? Or have any suggestions on things to try? I'm resisting going back to 7100..

Cheers! :)

Thank you!!
This installs and works great.
I see it is really the same driver at the core, I wonder why Microsoft forcefully disabled it in the first place?

Thanks again! :D

Styx2009's suggestion worked for me too.

I just wonder why Leadtek seem to be dragging the chain on the Win 7 64-bit drivers for the DTV2000H.

2mths later & Leadtek still haven't released Win 7 drivers for for this particular card.
What pathetic effort on their part.

Their lack of customer support means I will never buy another Leadtek product again.

Leadtek DTV2000H Driver

I just looked at the DTV2000 H on Leadtek's site and a Win 7 driver is not listed.
However, I then did a search on drivers - "DTV2000 H" and Win 7 drivers did come up:

ver 6.0.109.7000 dated 2009/10/23.

I downloaded the file and ran the installer. It said it was installing the drivers and then asked for a reboot. After reboot Device Mgr stilll has the old drivers listed. I then ran the same installer as Administrator with same result.

Turns out Leadtek only updated the driver for the DTV2000 H Plus, but not the DTV 2000 H.
How hopeless is that?

I tried the same thing and ran the installer for the Win 7 64 bit DTV2000H drivers. It seems to hang for a bit and then tells you to reboot. However, it does not actually update the drivers and I suspect there may be a permissions problem. Tried to run it as administrator and with AntiVirus turned off but no luck. Also tried to contact Leadtek but the email bounced due to a "full inbox". They seem to have alot of unhappy customers ...

eyz i found out how to make it work, and im using windows 7 home premium 64-bit..

Heres how to get it to work perfectly for Win 7 64 bit, download this driver:
http://tw1965.myweb.hinet.net/Leadtek/CX23880.5.0.18.6420_Windows7_Build7232.zip
After that, extract that file. You will get a "Windows7_Build7232" folder.
Now go right click "My Computer" and select "Properties".
Select "Device Manager" and under "Sound, Video and game controllers" right click "Winfast DTV 2000H" and then select "Properties"
Go to "Driver" tab and then select "Update Driver" and then "Browse my computer for driver software"
Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" and then select "Have disk"
Browse for the "Windows7_Build7232" folder, and then select the file in that folder (sorry i cant remember which file to select out of the 2 files).
(!!!NOTE!!! should probably restart the PC before you try the tv tuner out)

this worked for me :) and i think you have to install winfast pvr2 in the x86 folder.. i hope this helps

Thanks Alex, that works great.

The link takes you to a Taiwanese site where you can download the driver file (hit green button) and save then extract files. When installing driver I got a warning about installing an unsigned driver but I went ahead anyway and everything works. No need to reboot.

Didn't work for me...

I had the DTV2000H working ok on the Win 7 RTM version - never had any issue. Yesterday I installed Win 7 Home Premium and got the same block as others report. I did the download from the Taiwanese site described OK. But when trying to load the new driver my PC froze and wouldn't reboot. Had to use F8 on reboot and use the Win 7 rescue protocol. The new drivers hadn't loaded and the Leadtek board remains unusable. Damn.

Errr... This only works if the card shows up in the device manager in the first place. For me, I can't even get it there, even with the drivers you suggest. The card was not detected during the windows install

Any other ideas?

Yanta, open the case and check if the card is properly placed. Maybe it budged a bit when you were cleaning or something.

:D Me not that silly.

I tried the card in an XP machine, works no probs. Put it back in the Win7 machine (in different PCI slot for luck), still no go...

But... I found the DTV Gold Dongle.. $33 each, USB and works like a charm. SO I'think it's time to eBay the old DTV2000H card... Maybe it has value as an antique ;)
