The last two updates here being the 9.5 and 9.6 didn't need it! Apparently ATI made some serious improvements on the driver installation part. It's still better to reboot just the same while you now don't have to stop everything just to restart for that.
(That helps when you are first installing 7 and waiting to get other things on!)

I have an old case sitting here now that has to see everything cleaned off once I get to it with an old, old AGP card in it. I'll be in good shape just finding any 32bit Vista updates to see that one with 7 running!

You mentioned not having the board drivers on earlier? A look at the Intel support site since Abit seems to be down for some reason shows not too much but still some Vista 32/64bit items like bios, onboard audio, chipset???! Download Software, Drivers and Utilities Filters

The guru3d site now sees the 9.6 there as well as at the second ATI download site. Ironically they look like the exact same thing you would see going for the latest catalyst version at ATI Catalystâ„¢ Display Driver 7 Beta - 64-Bit Edition

tried these and failed, and yea guru3d does seem the same AND my card is AGP pimpin, so regular drivers don't work. weird right, I KNOW! And i have tried 9.6 32/64 bit - 9.3 32/64 bit and they ALL didn't work. These are drivers from the ATI site AND Sapphires web site as well. I bet if i had a AMD CPU i wouldn't be having this problem

If any knows how i could reinstall my chipset drivers i bet that might have something to do with it.

I dl'ed and installed 9.6 but the driver is showing 9.5 in the device manager. I tried manual install by selecting the folder for 9.6 to have the device manager upgrade it but it says I already have the latest version driver. Not really worried about it as it's running fine. Just a bit odd.

That's great for you and your PCI-E video card.
