i think windows can't recognize my cell phone for some reason or another.
this issue also affect the work of Nokia PC Suite
preventing me from transferring anything from or to my cell phone saying "connection to the phone was lost".

Hi, I have a 5800 EM. I installed windows 7 7100 64bit a few weeks ago but only used my phone with PC again last week. I downloaded the latest OVI suite from nokia.com and when I first plugged my phone into the computer it took a really long time downloading and installing drivers (+- 15min) after that it seemed to work fine, connects to PC and I'm able to exchange files. I also updated my phone's firmware last week through Nokia Update Manager, no problems. I know that my phone's USB cable seems to be a bit fussy, so when it's plugged into the PC and connected I try to leave it absolutely still.
When you plug your phone into the computer, does it ask you how it should connect eg. PC suite, mass storage device or media player? Which option do you choose?

no matter what i choose the problem still
When i choose pc suite everything seems to be going fine but when about to copy songs to the phone the message appears
Even when i choose mass storage windows asks to scan the memory for problems to fix and at the end it says nothing wrong with it and a second later it asks again for scaning!!! Driving me crazy

O, my phone used to do that as well when I was still on Vista - was a real hassle - thats what led me to think that the USB cable might not be making proper contact. My memory card became corrupted shortly afterwards - would freeze my phone's music player and refuse to play music until I rebooted the phone. Then after a while windows scanning the memory card started to find corrupted files, destroyed all my videos I took. I formatted the memory card through a memory card reader, and updated my phone's firmware, haven't had trouble since (but to be fair it's only been a week)

i used to have the same issue with Windows Vista
thought it'll be gone on windows 7 but no hope!
i also tried it on my sister's PC running XP and it worked
    that's why I'm pretty sure it's a windows issue...

    Hi all,

Just download IVT.BlueSoleil.v6.4.249.0. It works with Windows 7 64-bit and worked for me.

Starhunter, you should uninstall PC Suite, download Ovi Suite and and upgrade your phone's firmware. Read this post.

    Kari,
My phone's firmware is up to date I'm just like you "always update the phone firmware when a new version is published"...Never missed one.
I've recently formatted my memory card, everything seems to be just fine but what bothers me that I can't transfer more than one or two files at once.
I really don't know what's wrong with it.
