Is there any way to get an updated driver for my laptop? (AMD SATA)

    Hi there people!!!

I've already asked in AMD forums... but no ansewrs got so far basically I'm looking for an updated driver for the AMD SATA Controller (my chipset is M780) I downloaded one (included in the catalyst software) from acer site, but has some flaws (hangs windows 7 randomly, event viewer shows error ID 11 origin amdsata.sys every time this happens). I tried to contact acer too to ask for an update, but they do very slowly...

The question is... Is there an updated and secure driver from AMD? by now I'm using (since I reformated my laptop) the Standard AHCI Controller from microsoft (installed by default by windows)...

Another question could be: Updatng my SATA driver will improve performance in disk? or does it do no difference.

Thanks in advance for you hep guys

    See ya!!!

If your system is working fine with the driver from Microsoft I would not worry about it. Don't think you will see any performance difference. Microsoft paid a lot of money for vendors to update their drivers for Windows 7, so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Probably some, but whether you would notice it outside of running a disk benchmark is another story. That said, no idea if it will work with the laptop versions for the chipsets but you can find it here,

    ATI Radeon

you probably want the AHCI driver.

Well... I downloaded teh AHCI driver just in case... seems that the PCI vendor identifier for the laptop and the one in this AMD package is the same... but if I won't see any performance improvement... I'll just keep it just in case...

    Thanks for the answers people

    See ya!!!
