What actually happens when you try to use it on Windows 7? Do you get any sort of error messages such as "Unable to load Device Driver"? Either way it will help if you could give a manufacturers name as the drivers sometimes go out under a different label depending on where they are being sold and who is selling them.
wen i connect it an error msg is flashed tht new hardware has encountered an error and is nt able to install. also it does nt hv any brand name just local company tht has sourced it: SRM- technology beyond limits.
in device manager its listed under othr devices with yellow?
Have you tried running Windows Update while it is connected?
The only SRM making USB/SATA cable devices I can find is Schoberer Rad Meßtechnik GmbH that makes ergonometers for bycycles which doesn't sound much like your USB to IDE/SATA cable.
If the Windows Update suggested by DeaconFrost doesn't work you could try a trial version of Driver Genius to see if that can find the necessary drivers - although I'll be surprised if it can find drivers for un-named hardware.
I will have a look at the packaging (if still there), who had selled that one cable 'cause that might be on their site to dig the solution, i guess.
Mine camed with a CD but those drivers were for Windows 98. In XP didn't need those...in Windows 7 either....
