I really hope someone can help me b/c I've been in computer hell for 4 days now. Long story short, my hard drive in my Dell Studio 1745 died. Finally got my data recovered from the drive. I reformatted that drive and reinstalled Windows 7, but it hung up alot. I did this several times and finally did a chkdsk /r and bad clusters were found. I just bought a WD Black hard drive and installed it this evening. Got Windows 7 installed, but in the Device Manager, it shows a "Mass Storage Controller" with an exclamation point beside it. I figure it's some sort of driver
, but I don't know what it could be. I haven't installed any other programs yet. Just Windows 7. What could be causing this problem?
There was another item underneath the "Other Devices" menu that also had an exclamation point, but I downloaded the driver at Drivers and Downloads
(it's some sort of motion sensor driver), and that exclamation point disappeared, but not the other one.
I have not modified the registry. This is a brand new Windows 7 install on a brand new hard drive (and thankfully, this one isn't hanging up!!)
