    HP ScanJet 5300C

I have a very old HP ScanJet 5300C Scanner which will not work with Windows 7. I tried to manually download the drivers from here: Select your operating system HP Scanjet 5300c Scanner(PC/Macintosh)

I clicked Windows XP, which was the most recent OS they had, but installing the drivers from there didn't work. Is the scanner just too old to run on Windows 7? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

I've had the same issue...I've tried other peoples 'work-arounds' that supposedly worked under vista....still no luck. Was hopeing it would have been resolved when RC cameout, but nope.

Good luck, and if you find an answer, please let me know: maulden@gmail.com

I haven't seen the other thread so I just wondered if they had suggested running the installer and driver in x compat mode?

    Hope this helps somewhat

This might help you. I know it's for Vista, but I'm thinking it may work in 7.

No news yet, I'm havign other issues with my network card not holding it's settings...needing to be uninstalled, then reinstalled...then everything works well...

So far my HP5300C scanner, Brother 2170W printer, and my NIC is having problems with RC.

Such is life, maybe they will have it fixed for the retail release.

    I sure hope so.

damn! ive just had to resort to the Vuescan option, I'm NOT giving HP any more of my money ever again and i advise everyone else to do the same.

I don't like using third party software, seem ridiculous that I now have to use intermediary software in order to get an image into photoshop

vuescan just shows that its perfectly possible for this scanner to work with W7 & vista, so why the hell wont HP even try.

I think that they are misguided if they think people will flock in droves to them for a new scanner, when there old one is still working fine

    Shame on them.

    Alfonzobonzo: Shame on them

Totally agree! I have an HP printer and scanner they no longer support.
Well, their "support" is 'just by a new one from us'. Riiiight

What's the exact model of your printer/scanner? I might be able to help you.
