HP ScanJet 5300C I have a very old HP ScanJet 5300C Scanner which will not work with Windows 7. I tried to manually download the drivers from here: Select your operating system HP Scanjet 5300c Scanner(PC/Macintosh)
I clicked Windows XP, which was the most recent OS they had, but installing the drivers from there didn't work. Is the scanner just too old to run on Windows 7? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. | My System Specs |

Good luck, and if you find an answer, please let me know: maulden@gmail.com I haven't seen the other thread so I just wondered if they had suggested running the installer and driver in x compat mode?
Hope this helps somewhat

No news yet, I'm havign other issues with my network card not holding it's settings...needing to be uninstalled, then reinstalled...then everything works well...
So far my HP5300C scanner, Brother 2170W printer, and my NIC is having problems with RC.
Such is life, maybe they will have it fixed for the retail release.
I sure hope so. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Windows 7 Pro CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2, 3.2GHz (6400+) Motherboard Biostar TF8200 A2+ Memory GSkill DDR2 PC2 6400, 4Gb (2x2Gb) Graphics Card XFX 8800GT (DDR3, 512Mb, OC with radiator and 120mm fan) Sound Card MB (Realtek 7.1) Monitor(s) Displays LG 19" LCD Screen Resolution 1600*1200 Keyboard MS Ergo Mouse Logitech Trackman Wireless PSU Thermaltake 600W modular Case Antec 300 Cooling Air Hard Drives Samsung 500GB SATA 3.0 Internet Speed DSL 6mb Other Info MB LAN (Realtek Gibabit)

damn! ive just had to resort to the Vuescan option, I'm NOT giving HP any more of my money ever again and i advise everyone else to do the same.
I don't like using third party software, seem ridiculous that I now have to use intermediary software in order to get an image into photoshop
vuescan just shows that its perfectly possible for this scanner to work with Windows 7 & vista, so why the hell wont HP even try.
I think that they are misguided if they think people will flock in droves to them for a new scanner, when there old one is still working fine
Shame on them. | My System Specs | | OS windows 7 CPU q6600 Motherboard dfi infinity dark p965 Memory 8gb Corsair xms2 ddr2 800 (4x2gb) Graphics Card BFG 8600gts |
