    Need help with error 7026

I have gone through my device manager and tried updating all of my drivers since doing a clean install of 7 on a new HD.
I did go to the Intel website and ran a scan to find driver updates. I downloaded all that were there.
I just don't know what driver it refers to, or if it's a driver issue at all.
    Any advice??

Do you have a disk in your CD/DVD/BD drive? If so I'd eject it and see if the error continues, if it does I suggest uninstalling the driver and do a complete shut down and see if Windows puts the driver back correctly, you may want to see if there is a firmware upgrade for the drive as well.

    Hi TC

MS- Technet no help. Just what you already knew.
I will see what else I can find throughout the day.

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load

If it isn't causing problems just keep an eye on things. I posted one fellows solution just so you would know.
    What I found so far.
    Hi

This error can be generated by any hardware device that is attached to the system.

If the computer does not refuse to start, then apparently the driver is not important to the boot process. Occassional events such as this can be very difficult to track down.

To troubleshoot this, I would recommend that you update the drivers for all of the installed hardware devices.

Try removing all external devices, except the mouse and keyboard before starting the computer.

Check the event viewer often, especially immediately after booting to see if the error has appeared again.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi

I gave up in the end and did a clean install. All the drivers where up to date and the hardware was compatabile with Windows 7. where possible, I used the manufaturers drivers instead of letting Windows install them and since then, I've not had this problem.

One thing to consider is to do a BSOD report. I realize you didn't have one but all the operational hardware and software info is included in this report.
BSOD reports should be called System Reports with the info included in them.

The BSOD crew may be able to identify the specific hardware or software causing the problem. Fix it then you are done.

For instance I found one instance this error came up and Nortons was causing it. How I don't know.
They removed Nortons problem gone. Not that this is causing yours. Just showing that the what is sometimes hard to trace for you and I but the BSOD report may point right to the problem for the BSOD crew.

    Worth a consideration.

    Hi Mike
Thanks for the link I sent a BSOD report to them. They are working on it. I was so tired yesterday I sent them the thing I downloaded instead of the actual report I'm getting Ntfs warnings that my system is corrupt and to run a disk check. I ran 2 neither showed any issues. I also ran a sfc, no problems detected there either. I'm ging to run the BSOD scan again and see what pops up this time.

Fishnbanjo: I think the drive it's trying to find is the one for the "Smartware" that is part of the external HD. I shut that down because I kept getting errors on that too. Since I shut it down those errors have disappeared. There was a firmware (and software) update done to that BEFORE I changed the hard dive to the new one. Could that cause that?? I know I have that update backed up to CD someplace. Shouldn't that have picked up on what ever drive version it had on it though? I hate to keep adding stuff, the more stuff I add the bigger the problem gets, plus makes it harder to find the cause.
