Raid driver is different than single driver. Also make sure raid drive is seen first in bios, before ide drive.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    1) Windows Vista, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 Fresh Installation
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Follow the instructions in this section if you are performing a new
installation of Windows Vista, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, and you wish to
boot from a device attached to the SiI SATARaid controller.

    1. Power off the system. Connect the hard drives to the SiI SATARaid
controller and insert the controller into a PCI slot. Power up
    the system.
    2. Put your Windows Vista, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 CD into the CD-ROM/DVD drive.
    3. Press F6 for third party SCSI or driver installation at the beginning
of text mode installation. Press 's' when setup asks if you want to
specify an additional device, and insert the diskette labeled
'Silicon Image SiI SATARaid Driver Installation Disk'.
Press 'Enter'. From the menu presented next, select
    'Silicon Image SiI SATARaid Controller'
    4. Press 'Enter' again when prompted to continue on with text mode setup.
    5. Follow the setup instructions to select your choice for
    partition and file system.
    6. After setup examines your disks, it will copy files to
Windows installation folders and restart the system.
The setup program will continue and finish the installation
    after restart.
    7. Wait until Windows finishes installing devices, regional
settings, networking settings, components, and final set of
tasks, reboot the system if it is required.
    8. See instructions in section 4 to verify controller was installed
    correctly.

I believe I only installed one set of drivers because I was not using onboard raid. Make that I did not have to insstall any drivers for silicon drivers. let windows 7 install. If you want to use on board raid need to press F6 when it askes for drivers in install set up. It was at this point I install drivers Hi point raid card. It has been some time since I installed fresh from beginning using on board raid. I use a raid card for more drives and my Hi point card bypasses some of the hardware bridges, I apppoligise for being brain dead I spent most of the night fighting a structure fire. Ask questions to get me thinking .

    thank you for your help.

but when i installed windows xp or vista with raid, i had to use nforce 4 drivers because my motherboard has a nforce raid controller "Nvidia nforce RAID class controller". And those drivers doesnt work for win7 i tried diffrent versions from tyan.com, nvidia.com,...

so maybe the nvidia 4 raid controller isnt compatible with win7 and i have to configure my hdds as singles not as raid.

or is there any way to get the nforce 4 sata-raid 0 working with win7?

Hi... im having a similar problem with my tyan s2875. I am trying to use a seagate 500Gb sata hdd and install windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. I downloaded the sata drivers and attempt to load them when windows is looking for the harddrive. It does see the driver and lets me select it, however after clicking next it tells me that i cant use the driver because it is not signed. How can i get this install to work? Thanks!

In case anyone else runs across this thread looking for a solution (as I did) here is what I found:

If you can identify the SATA driver used on your Tyan motherboard there is a chance you can find the right driver at the manufacturer's site. I have an older Tyan S2882-D MB which uses a Silicon Image Sil3114 SATA RAID Accelerator. After a little work investigating the specific version of the Sil3114 (based on status messages during boot up) I was able to find a suitable driver on Silicon Image's site - Silicon Image - Support | Search Results. To my surprise the "SiI 3114 64-bit Windows BASE Driver for Windows 7" worked and I was able to easily install Windows 7.

Hope this helps someone else as well... (and why can various Linux distributions include this driver but MS cannot??)
