Might be your USB Controller is not working. Have you tried to plug other devices on your USB ports? Were they working?

i'm sure that the USB is working cuz when i had windows xp the camera was recognized but actually the problem began with windows 7
Try to Scan for hardware changes in the device manager. your USB must be plugged in when you hit scan for hardware changes.

it just sounds like that the driver i need is included in the system but actually it's not supported by my windows 7!
Experiment with the communications settings for your camera. It will be somewhere in the setup menus in the camera. Look for something like "PTP" or "mass storage" or "PC", etc.
Canon doesn't support my old G3 in Windows 7 (no twain driver), but when I changed the communications settings Windows 7 "saw" the camera as a USB drive.
If all fails call Sony and ask for tech support.
Like WIFI said there is something in your settings to change.
