I had the same thing happen with Alcohol when doing an upgrade install of 7229 from 7100 (back to 7100 now due to Punkbuster issues). Anyway I came across a post with the following instructions,

    The way to fix it:
1)Try to uninstall Deamon Tools, or other software using SPTD, delete Deamon Tools (or other software) folder in Program Files
    2)Run Regedit
in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Services\sptd" set DWORD "Start" value to 4
    3) Reboot in safemode
    4) Run regedit
in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Services\sptd\CFG" -> right click and select permissions -> add your user (with administrative privileges) and check "Full Control" box
Then delete the whole SPTD key
    5) Reboot in normal mode
    6) Install SPTD or software containing SPTD.
followed them and I could then get Alcohol installed. I don't have Hamachi but if you know the exact name of the driver (should show in Device Manager), the above might work for you if you look for the Hamachi named equivalent.

I did that, but device manager is still giving Hamachi.

Tried manually deleting the file? It should be in the,

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers

    folder.

Sounds like there4 may be more than one instance of the file someplace. Do a search of your C: drive for it and see if it is hiding in any other locations.
