    Asus P6T and Windows 7

Hey all, I just put together an i7 rig today with the Asus P6T motherboard. I'm having a problem with it detecting any of my PCI cards though. I installed the latest drivers for Windows 7 from the Asus site. It claims the driver installed and reboots, but then it doesn't start auto-detecting my PCI cards. Therefore I can't install my sound card or wireless card.

Anyone know why it's not detecting my PCI cards.

Thanks in advance. Specs are below :

    Intel i7 920
    Asus P6T
    Kingston 3x2GB DDR 1333 Mhz
    Creative Audigy 2ZS
    Linksys WMP54G Wireless card
    Windows 7 x64

I just switched to a P6TS WS and did not use any of the Asus drivers. I did upgrade the firmware, and I noticed they have a bunch of BIOS updates for the P6T. What's your current BIOS rev? They've had 5 updates since Feb, and your board is probably from before that as stock seems to run. My P6T6 WS was from November.

Will bios updates fix the issues I'm having? I'd have to install a compatible OS though to install the bios (I prefer Asus' windows utility for updating the bios). The bios version must be stock as I bought it today.

Why would you have to install a "compatible" OS to upgrade the BIOS? I dont exactly know what you mean by a "stock" bios version. You may have bought it today but it was made several months ago with the then current BIOS. Win 7 probably wasn't even being tested then

    Hope this help

Ok, I installed the intel chipset driver while using -overall. That seemed to have worked. Thanks for all the help.

Also to Zigzag, what I meant was Asus has a utility that updates the bios within Windows for you. There is no compatible version for Windows 7, so I would have install Vista or XP (compatible OS) to do that. I prefer using this software method rather than a floppy disk / usb drive and doing the update in DOS. I hope this helps understand what I meant, I apologize for not being clear in my original post.

Before I start my own thread I will try here to get a question answered.

I too have the Asus P6T and am having some issues. My on board audio isn't working. When I uninstall the windows drivers for this and restart, windows auto installs the Windows 7 drivers again. I have read I am supposed to click uninstall and when prompted click the "remove this driver from the computer", but I am not getting that prompt. Looking for any advice as to how I can control which driver is installed.

In case it matters chip is a intel i7 920, gpu is evga gtx 285, 6gb of patriot 1600 ram, and a 1.5tb sata seagate hd.
