ATI HD4570 drivers failing to update

    Hi there
I have recently reformatted and have to upgrade my video drivers for my laptop (acer 7535g) Am downloading the drivers from acer support site:

Acer Support: Drivers & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 7535G

the 8.653.0.0 version. Every time I have tried to install it starts off fine but after a few minutes my desktops disappears and all I have is my background, when I press alt control and delete the screen comes up black leaving me no option other than to do a system restore.

I haven't reformatted for a long time and not to sure how to solve this problem, any help on this matter would be great.

Always download drivers from the manufacturer's website......in this case go to AMD's website. When installing a new video driver, you must download new driver to a place of your choice...ie desktop or documents folder, then uninstall current driver and reboot if not asked to. Upon reboot then install new driver from saved location.

You always have to uninstall your previous Catalyst before installing the new one. Also, since his laptop is Acer, he is downloading his drivers from the manufacturer's website -- even AMD would tell you they recommend the laptop's manufacturer. Not that there's something wrong downloading them from AMD's website ... especially if the other ones are buggy.

I don't know if you waited a few minutes when you were left with your desktop only, but it's natural for your monitor to flicker, turn off for a second, and then turn on with some stuff on the desktop buggy. Just see if ATI Catalyst Install Manager reports problems.

Try running your Windows in Safe Mode after you install Catalyst. Reboot, don't go for System Restore first.

I uninstalled CCC as it interfered with the use of my 4570 graphics card over my 3200 graphics card. I tried to install it there and it automatically reboots but to the same image of just my background shows up. So am not to sure what to do. Any more suggestions?

Yes I have tried to install the driver with everything but CCC but the problem is still there, tried to do it via windows updating the driver and the same problem occured. Is there a chance the file is corrupt? Or did I do somethig when I removes all ati software the first time?

There are other people who have the same problem like you, so it doesn't seem to be your fault. Your laptop uses the HD3200 when in Battery Mode and the HD4750 when the charger is plugged in. That could possibly be the reason why the installation process stops. Use your old drivers if they worked well for you and try to update when a newer version is released.

    I don't like Acer.

Your laptop has two graphics card -- one is HD 3200, and the other is the HD4570. It seems that it thinks you have two displays too -- one for every card.

While installing the display driver your screen usually refreshes, but in your case you are switched to your "other" display on your HD3200 -- that is why you see your desktop background and nothing more. What you can try is updating your BIOS (don't forget to flash your current version), then go there and disable your HD 3200. Install the drivers for HD 4570 and if it works, after the setup has finished, restart and enable your HD 3200 back.

Oh, and after you update your BIOS, you could try installing the drivers without disabling the 3200, just check your primary graphics card is the 4570. I hope this helps.

Would upgrading my laptop from vista to windows 7 have caused a problem? Oh and the great thing I have discovered is that I cant access safe mode, it says loading windows files, flickers and then reboots. But the sheer fact is ive just reformatted! so I don't understand these problems!!! =/
