VIA 7 Port IEEE-1394 Firewire & USB 2.0 PCI Combo Card

I am having trouble getting the Firewire to work on this card in 7 Ultimate. I tried using legacy drivers and none work. Does anyone have any input? Thanks.

Did you try running the driver exe file in compatibility mode?

Don't know anything about it, but did you read the "All Customer Reviews" area?

Don't give up I tried this in one slot on my computer and couldn't find drivers to save my life - the download-drivers.com didn't have the driver for the item shipped. On a whim I tried the card in a different slot on my computer and it works perfectly
    Maybe you'll get lucky...

    Nice system - 64-bit w7, I assume...

    Maybe look here?

Unfortunately It doesn't come with a drivers disc. It's plug and play basically. I have tried in different slots and searched high and wide for a drivers .exe so i can try to run it in compatibility mode. I did see the reviews, i figured that if it works in Vista there would be a chance of it working in 7. For that price you cant really complain. I was just using my resources to see if anyone else knows how to solve my little problem.

    Hi,

you may find this interesting :

I have a DELL PowerEdge700, (basically for testing purpose)
Install of Windows 7 failed with a via card, after removing all the pci CARDs and trying to isolate the faulty one, I found out that a generic FireWire + USB card based on VIA chipset was causing a BSOD.

    VIA CHIPSET : subsysid = 3104 rev_65 & subsysid = 3044 rev_80

    Symptoms :
    - Windows starts
    - Pnp find de new hardware and start to install the driver,
    - then the system Halt with a BSOD,
    - error mess : System Halted, hardware Malfunction, contact your...

    Reproductible : ALWAYS

The card is working fine under SBS 2003, Windows XP SP1,2&3, RedHat entreprise.

Définitely a problem with the embedded drivers in Windows 7.

ALSO, lateley this what I found :

on an clean install without the card, win7 is working fine.

Stopping the system, inserting the card, rebooting the systems shows :

    New device detected,
    Installing drivers, (3 Green ticks),
then Crash with BSOD... System hardware malfunction, system halted.

Of course, with this brutal stop there's no dump file.
