Hello there, welcome to the forums
Windows 7 has its own drivers
for the HP Laserjet P1005, you just have to go to "Printers and Devices" after connecting the HP, right click it, and click on "Solve Issues" another screen will pop up, click next, and it'll try to figure out what's happening to the hardware, a little bit later it'll tell you that you don't have the driver
for it, it'll connect to the internet and it'll download the driver to install it as soon as possible. It has worked for me with HP products and Windows 7.
Try that and report back, please
EDIT: i just looked in Canon's website and they have Windows Vista 32-bit Drivers, use them in compatibility mode, here: CanoScan Toolbox ScanGear CS
Those are the 2 files you need to download ans install in order to have the Scanner working
Again, report back after finishing
