    ATI Catalyst System Tray Issue

    Hi Everyone,

    I have the latest Catalyst Control Center installed on my Desktop system. I believe Catalyst runs itself on startup. After fully booting my system, I see two icons of Catalyst in my system tray.

    But upon hovering over them, they disappear. I would assume that this means that it crashed. Does anybody have any clue on how to solve this issue? Thanks.

    You do not need Catalyst to run at startup. Its simply useless, adding to the boot time.
    Press Windows flag key+R and type msconfig in the Run box and hit enter. Go to startup tab and uncheck items related to catalyst.
    Now, coming to the double icon. That doesn't seem a big deal. I too sometimes face it not only with catalyst but with other icons too.
    I can't say why its so but it doesn't affect anything.
    You can still try rebuilding icon cache and see if its gone.

    Thanks man. I'll try to rebuild the icon cache. I'll immediately update this thread on what happens.

    Well, that did it.

    Icon Cache - Rebuild

    It actually solved the issue and made only 1 icon appear, and eventually disappear when hovered over. I'll deem the crashing of the control center a bug. I've disabled it from the start up like you suggested. Rep added. Thanks mate. Problem solved.

    catalyst-driver-windows. i think i have the answer why there is delay and the ccc icon in the notification area disappears. in the ccc main window under preferences there is a setting called FOLLOW WINDOWS SCHEME make sure this is UN-TICKED and then the icon stays in the notification area and no delay.

    Mine is already unticked but just to be sure, i ticked it and unticked it again. I'll add it back to the startup and see if this cures the issue. I have some work to do but I'll be sure to report back if this solves the other issue mate.

    ===Edit===

    Well, it didn't quite solve the issue. The icon still appears and disappears when moused over. I guess it's an issue with the Catalyst Control Center. Hopefully there will be an update to fix this. Thanks to all who helped again.

    Just as an update, after installing Catalyst Control Center 11.3, it enabled the startup entry again and is now properly starting up. Cheers! :)
