In desperate need of help!
So I had this terrible attack on my computer by this nasty trojan called Cycbot.B I tried many things to solve it and eventually found a guide that recommended using Malwarebytes to clean it. I ran malwarebytes in Safe Mode and after restarting, when entering Windows I got sent to a blue screen with a IRQL Not Less or Equal Error.
In safe mode I've been able to determine that this is an error with one of my System Base Devices. I believe it is one of the memory card reader drivers.
I'm running Windows Seven Ultimate 32 bit on a Sony Vaio VGN-NW130th.
This is the hardware ID of the device:
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_9056104D&REV_12
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_9056104D
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_088000
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_0880
I've installed both drivers available on Sonys support site that cover the memory card readers and it still wont work.
Troubleshooting states that the device doesn't have a driver. I've uninstalled and desabled the device and tried reinstalling the driver to no avail. Why wont the driver stick!?! I tried restarting my computer with the device disabled and still get the blue screen error.
I think my computer is pretty messed up from the Trojan / Cleanup... Is there anything I can do to access Windows regularly? I don't even use the memory card slot so I wouldnt mind completely disabling it, is there a way to do this?
Any suggestions on how to get the driver to install properly?
Also, Windows Update isn't working (I think you can't run in it safety mode though so that might be it).
Thanks so much for any support you can give me!
(oh and also, what are the chances that the Trojan could sneak onto an external harddrive if I use it to back my stuff up before an eventual system format)
