USB not recognized by any computer anymore

First I want to say that this is not a computer problem, this is the USB's problem. I've tried it under every computer I could and it just didn't recognize it anymore. This is was all of a sudden really.

Can anyone give me instructions on what to do?

I'm willing to post whatever test I need

If no computer recognises it, then the USB drive is probably dead. Such things do happen.

However, the drive might also be corrupted. To check that, type "disk management" into the search window under start menu. Click on "create or format..." If the drive shows up at all, then the drive is not dead.

To fix the file system, use Test Disk.

I used to constantly lose usb devices to a friend who would borrow them. I was about ready to kill him, when I went to his house and discovered the door to his front panel usb's had a POWERFUL MAGNET ON IT. Anyhow, issue was resolved. Apparently this design exists on quite a few models. If there is a similar set up on your machine be very careful plugging and unplugging devices from it. It has the ability to kill flash devices in a hurry.

I couldn't find anything under it.

However, I'm not convinced that it is dead because when I first put the USB in an computer, it flashes for about 1 second than stops. I think it does realize when the USB is put in any computer, but never appears to show up.

I hope that is a good sign?
