Keyboard Filter Driver - PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hello, I've been trying to install and upgrade both my laptop and desktop to Windows 7. I currently have Windows Vista 32-bit for both. I'm having the most rediculous time trying to do this. I have never upgraded before, but this by far is the most annoying thing I could expect to happen.

My desktop, will not read my Windows 7 disk period. The AutoPlay will not even pop up, and I've messed with the settings throug there trying to get it to work manually. No luck. I have no idea why, have been looking all over for a solution - it's an HP Pavillion.

More importantly, I got the disk to load and start the install on my laptop, but during the process it tells me I need to upgrade my "Keyboard Filter" now to my understanding through looking all over google, this is a driver - and apparently others who have certain versions of HP/Compaq have delt with this issue. I can't seem to find a straight answer or correct soloution to this problem.

My laptop is a Compaq Presario CQ60. I have found out that I need "HP Quick Launch Buttons Keyboard Driver v6.50.12.1" I already went to compaq.com and a few other sites to to try and download ( the driver )/ resolve the issue, but see the problem is apparently anywhere I try to download it on the web; a notification pops up through internet explorer with a red circled "X" saying "Internet explorer can not download from such and such site ( and I've tried many ) - Internet explorer was not able to open this internet site. The Requested site is either unavaiable or cannot be found. Please try again later". I've already lowered the internet explorer settings, and download options, deleted temp files and cookies - in attemp to fix this issue. I am at a loss, please help.

Hi reaptress welcome to the forum's. Can you please provide a link to the driver you are attempting to download?

A quick look on Compaq, led me to a MASSIVE list of variations on the CQ60 here: Select a product or category from the list below Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Perhaps you could clarify which one it is?

Have you tried a different browser? Firefox made it that far (to the link I provided) with no problems at all.

I tried downloading it from this link: Driver Compaq Presario CQ60-153EM Notebook PC for Windows XP-Vista-7 | DriversTools

but I guess I didn't take into consideration there's a million of cq60's, go figure.

I also tried actually downloading it from compaq's site itself, ( the link you provided ) but that didn't work either... I found out my laptop is a Presario CQ60-215DX, and is listed on the compaq list you provided.

I clicked it, and I chose Windows 7 32-bit because that's what I'm going to download, I've also tried my operating system as well - windows vista 32-bit ( neither seem to work )... anyway, I clicked the driver I needed under keyboards, the HP quick launch one, here: HP Quick Launch Buttons Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Told me the same thing when I pressed download. Maybe it is internet explorer.. but the thing is I use my cellphone as my modem, and it only works on internet explorer -_- I really hope that's not the issue.

Reset IE8 in the internet Options advanced tab, Check whenever MS Silverlight is well installed & up-to-date, update the Adobe Flash Player to v10.2.

Run SFC /Scannow file system checker: HERE

If you do own the Windows 7 CDs you could run a repair: HERE

    PS:
You should be able to create your own repair CD directly in windows 7...from Control Panel=>Backup & Restore=>Create Restore CD
