Want My 360 Gaming Receiver To Work Again

I have a 360 wireless gaming receiver which used to work, and my controller was connected. I turned off my comp one day, then turned it back on in the morning, proceeded to turn on my controller and it was not connected.

I tried to reconnect, no success.

This is REALLY bugging me, I've manually installed the windows drivers, ive tried XBCD nothing works.

From what I understand there is no problem with the receiver or the controller itself it's the drivers. I agree with that because when I bought the receiver and plugged it in, windows wouldnt install any drivers, and I was unable to connect anything. I then manually installed the microsoft drivers for the receiver and voila, I connected instantly.

Anyways, what the hell. Why would my controller stop connecting? Ive tried 3 usb port's ive tried 2 different drivers. Microsoft and XBCD neither work. (XBCD I install the driver and then the application wont open...)

Any help? This is bugging the hell out of me

Edit: I dont think I installed anything especially not anything that would interfere with this driver.

Ill try the dongle on another computer see if it works over there.

If you have installed anything you have installed something that might interfere. Do you have a backup to restore from?

Dont think so, I believe I turned system restore or whatever off, since I'm using an SSD.

Also, I didnt install anything that I can remember. I dont even think I had any windows updates...

I have this EXACT problem, and I haven't installed anything either. I have a wireless 360 controller with a PC transceiver, and another with a play and charge cable. I was using them yesterday afternoon, and now today, nothing. Plugging in the play and charge controller causes the computer to recognize it and install software, but then it doesn't show up as a device, light its little green "which player am I" LED, or seem to function in any other way. The wireless receiver seems totally dead.

    Did you install SP1?

Or allow driver updates from Windows Updates?

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers?

I'm not sure if I installed SP1, I have auto updates turned on, so it may have installed on its own?

I lent the receiver to a friend of mine who said he couldn't connect but I dont think he installed the drivers correctly, and he's the type to forget something so simple as pressing the sync button on the controller and on the receiver, so I'll test on a second comp of mine with win 7, and possibly a laptop that is running windows 7 and hasn't been updated in a LONG time.

    Click Start Orb
    Right Click Computer
    Click Properties

    Check for SP1

    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Copyright 2009 Microsoft

    Dont see any SP1

My Windows experience is 7.3 though :)

Well, crap. Apparently 7sp1 came out on 2/22, and Windows Update didn't say anything about it. I'm installing that now, though that doesn't explain why the controllers used to work but stopped. I have tried reinstalling the drivers (version 1.2, the newest available), but there was no effect.

Same with me, it just stopped working all together. I reinstalled drivers, used other third party drivers etc nothing...
