can't install mobile intel 900 graphics - uninstalls itself

    hi guys.
i was trying to upgrade my mobile intel 900 series graphics drivers to get opengl support on windows 7. here is what I did:

    1. Uninstalled drivers in device manager and checked off the "delete drivers" which I believe removes the drivers from driver store
    2. Figured Intel doesn't have drivers for this chip
    3. Now I can't get back the original drivers. Everytime I click on "update drivers" in device manager - it says no drivers found for this chip. I have no system restore and everytime I try to install Windows XP drivers (obtained from lenovo x41 support) - it automatically gets removed.

I have lost the hibernate and standby feature. please help as my laptop doesn't go on standby when I close the lid.. I have IBM Thinkpad x41 tablet if that helps.

I ran that utility on intel's website. Detected my chip as Intel 915GM. No luck though because here is what intel has to say about this:

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...amily&lang=eng

So that means I can't have windows 7 drivers because this chip wont support Aero (which I have disabled anyway)? No openGL support with builtin microsoft drivers either.

I tried installing XPDM drivers but no luck (please see attached).

There are no win7 drivers for the 915 family, you need to install the XP drivers in compatibility mode.

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...Chipset+Family

    Download this driver:

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...amily&lang=eng

Extract the zip to a folder on the hdd, look for the setup file, rightclick on the setup file and select run as admin. The driver will now install correctly.

As for aero, there are no WDDM drivers for 915, so no aero. You want aero, upgrade to a newer card.
