    Win7 on desk top

I just talked my wife into allowing me to update her XP desktop with Win 7 64 bit. She fought me with everything she had until this week to prevent the upgrade. I've been running win 7 on my notebook since the beta release. Her desktop has a Asus P5B-E mother board. My question is this....win 7 64 bit did install successfully on the P5B-E platform, it took some device manager tweaking to the system to completely shutdown (fans remained running after win 7 closed. However.....

I have not updated the motherboard in years. Tonight while searching for Win 7 mother board utilities, i.e., audio, lan and such I noticed there are some vista utilities that are 64 bit for the P5B-E....there are now win 7 specific upgrades for this series mother board. Will updating with the vista 64 bit files hurt, help or do nothing?

The following P5B-E bios updates include Lan, audio, chipset, and bios all for 64 bit vista. The motherboard was originally set up for XP 32 bit

    Thanks in advance

Unfortunately there is no way of really telling till you actually do it.
There is a chance that they will work. Even some Xp drivers and such will work.
But there is no way to say yes or no,, only maybe.

Just make sure you also run the Chipset Drivers

Check this link for Intel Drivers for that board
Select the Win 7 64-bit and try those out
