BW-5 Mouse Driver Problem - Help Please...

Hi everyone.

I've just updated to Windows 7 as part of an upgrade to my rig, swapping the Athlon XP in favour of the Athlon X2 64. I was going to stick with XP as my OS, for I'd heard a Lot of talk about issues with drivers, but I figured that if I was going to upgrade the entire system then why not the OS too. Finding the drivers I needed was in some cases quite laborious, but not as bad as expected. Except for one.

I have a Mikomi wired optical mouse, model number BW-5 & it's got the 'Office' button that I find very useful. I was using A4Tech's BW-5 driver for it with Windows XP but, much as I've searched, I can't seem to find any drivers for this model of mouse for Windows 7...

I have tried running the A4Tech driver install in XP compatibility mode, without success & have also tried the Smart X7 mouse driver version 7.80 suggested by a member here for a different mouse model, but it didn't have the functionality for the 'Office' button. So I'm clean out of ideas & would welcome any help or suggestions you can offer. Thanks

P.s.
If there is no Windows 7 driver that can be used for this model of mouse then could anyone suggest a decent alternative that has about the same functionality & number of buttons?

Update us please regarding BW-5 and Windows 7

@Daf T Duck

I have the same mouse model. I simply love that mouse and used the buttons a lot in Windows XP. I hope that a solution or an equal alternative is available out there.

I want to ask you if there is something new ?! Have you managed to make it work inside Windows 7 ?!

You say that the Smart X7 mouse driver version 7.80 works partially for BW-5, is it possible to cut and paste using the two small buttons located at mouse's top middle ?!

Please let me know. Have a blessed day!

No luck in finding the BW-5 W7 drivers

Hi,

Sorry to say that I couldn't find a solution to the BW-5 driver problem. I spent days trawling different sites, but with no luck.

In the end I gave up and looked around for another customisable mouse, as I like having the extra buttons for games etc... I now have this:Trust Peripherals | Trust Red Bull Racing Xtreme Mouse | Trust Computer Products Customisable & programmable buttons, adjustable weight for smooth control and it looks awesome too...

Thanks for the information. It looks like I should not spend effort on this. I will need to get a new one. In fact, I need mostly the copy / paste function.
