    ntoskrnl Driver power state failure

I have a 13 days old win7 pro RTM x64 system. In the past two days I had
    two BSODs of similar fashion:

The machine was running for several hours at that point, and suddenly the
blue screen pops up. I wasn't really pushing the system, just browsing.

The crash dump is like this in both cases:

This was likely caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe
    Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFFA8003B4B050, 0xFFFFF80000B9C518, 0xFFFFFA80052E0E10)
    Error: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
    file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
    product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
    company: Microsoft Corporation
    description: NT Kernel & System
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Likely the culprit is another
driver on your system which cannot be identified.

    I'd appreciate any help.

    I had the same problem
    I tried everything nothing worked
I saved everything in safe mode and did a re-install

But do some searching on Google
one thing I didnt try was replacing ntoskrnl.exe with one downloaded from the net
I will search for mine & post it here for you here

Also do some searching on here

Thanks Gazzasore, I'll give your ntoskrnl a try, it seems to be a newer build. (7600.16385 vs 7600.20510)

I did google the problem, but nothing relevant came up. In other cases there always was an actual driver mentioned in the crash dump, but not a piece of the kernel.

Nope, same thing happens with that version as well. :\

But at least I see a pattern now:
The BSOD only happens ~15 minutes after coming back from hibernation. Restart and
sleep mode seem to be unaffected.

    I have to following system:

    Intel L775 Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6
    Intel L775 Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
    eVGA 8800GTS SSC 512MB 512-P3-N847-A3
    Cooler Master iGreen 600W APFC
    2x Geil KIT 2048MB 800MHz CL4 EVO

The system is on a Super Talent UltraDrive 32GB SSD, and there is a SAMSUNG HD321KJ for
    the rest of my stuff.

If anyone else has this BSOD we might be able to narrow down the problem by looking at
    the overlap of the configs.

One more thing, maybe a clue: I have a WD MyBook Studio 2TB in RAID1 attached in
    firewire.
After a BSOD, when windows boots up, it doesn't see the HDD at all. Removing the
cable and reattaching it, or using an USB connection instead doesn't help. I have to
unplug/replug the HDD to make it accessible again. When I try the button on it, it
flashes like its not connected to anything.

Still, it was attached and working for like a week before the BSODs started so I don't
    know if this info matters.

If you can get into your machine can you go into c:\windows\minidump, zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it to us to debug. If its not in minidump you can search for *.dmp

Let us know if you need help zipping or uploading

Here is mine. Similar scenario: BSOD several minutes after coming back from sleep. I have a Firewire-connected Buffalo external drive. It cannot be recognized in "auto" mode, so I have to switch it to "manual".

Hi Pav, it's great that you have it too!
Erhm.. I mean... "great"... ehh, never mind. ;)

Anyway, I was wondering if you could post your system specs, just to see if there is
anything even remotely similar in our configs.
    (FW is definitely a suspect.)

If I "safely remove" the external HDD and unplug the firewire cable before hibernating the
    machine, there is no BSOD.
